Moroccan Youth Match Excellence

Connecting young talent
with IT careers

CONTEXT AND CHALLENGES

Preparing young Moroccan talent for opportunities in the digital economy

Morocco’s digital economy and outsourcing sector continues to expand rapidly, creating growing demand for qualified professionals in information technology and customer operations. Companies operating in these sectors require young talent with strong technical expertise, adaptability, and communication skills to support their growth and competitiveness.

At the same time, many young Moroccan graduates and job seekers face difficulties accessing quality employment opportunities despite their academic potential. Employers also encounter challenges in recruiting and retaining junior talent prepared for the realities of professional environments and fast-changing digital industries.

To address these challenges, Invest for Jobs supported the non-profit organisation A-Excellence and the IT company Capgemini Telecom Services in implementing the Moroccan Youth Match Excellence project. The initiative aimed to improve the employability of young Moroccan talent through technical training, soft skills development and onboarding support for the professional integration into partner companies.

The project focused on creating quality employment opportunities while helping partner companies strengthen their talent pipelines and support the long-term development of Morocco’s digital economy.

PROJECT APPROACH & PROJECT GOALS

Combining technical training, mentoring and professional integration

Launched in April 2024, the Moroccan Youth Match Excellence project was designed as a comprehensive employability programme for young Moroccan talent interested in careers in the IT and outsourcing sectors.

The project was delivered in three phases. The first phase focused on mindset development and career preparation through a dedicated bootcamp. Participants attended workshops on communication, networking, time management, personal branding, and career planning. Mentoring sessions and exchanges with role models helped young talents define their professional goals and strengthen their self-confidence.

The second phase focused on technical training in areas aligned with labour market needs, including coding and digital technologies required by partner companies. The training aimed to strengthen participants’ practical skills and prepare them for employment opportunities in Morocco’s growing IT sector.

The final phase concentrated on placement and onboarding support. Coaching and mentoring sessions accompanied young talents during their integration into partner companies in order to facilitate adaptation to the workplace and reduce staff turnover.

STATUS AND OUTLOOK

Creating quality jobs and strengthening Morocco’s digital talent pipeline

By the end of the implementation period in 2025, a total of 88 young people completed this training programme, combining technical and interpersonal skills development. The project contributed to the creation of 101 decent jobs within the IT and outsourcing sectors. Participants accessed professional opportunities in digital services, software development, and customer operations.

Beyond immediate employment outcomes, the initiative strengthened collaboration between the private sector and civil society organisations working to improve youth employability in Morocco. By fostering a sustainable pipeline of qualified digital talent, the project helped address the growing needs of the digital and outsourcing sectors while supporting their long-term development.

The Moroccan Youth Match Excellence project was supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH under the Special Initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition” of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in cooperation with the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade.
