Invest for Jobs – the Special Initiative "Decent Work for a Just Transition"
Under the Invest for Jobs brand, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has put together a package of measures to support German, European and African companies engaging in Africa. The Special Initiative "Decent Work for a Just Transition" – the official title – offers comprehensive advice, contacts and financial support through its implementing organisations to overcome investment barriers. The development objective is to team up with companies to create up to 100,000 jobs, generate training opportunities and improve working conditions in the African partner countries: Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal and Tunisia. The Special Initiative is making a targeted contribution to shaping the socio-ecological transformation of the private sector in line with a just transition, and to creating more and better jobs for women.
The main implementing organisations are the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the KfW Development Bank (KfW) (along with its subsidiary, Investing for Employment GmbH). Their data protection statements are available at:

The following personal data will be processed for the aforementioned purpose:
- title;
- interest;
- company name/institution;
- headquarter location company/institution;
- first name;
- surname;
- email;
- target country;

* Unless anonymised. An anonymised IP address does not constitute personal data.
GIZ, KfW and IFB GmbH will process your personal data from the contact form, and/or from the email by which you contacted us, for the purpose of recording your interest in the offering of the Special Initiative "Decent Work for a Just Transition" as well as for the aforementioned purposes, and/or will forward this data as required to the aforementioned implementing organisations and/or project executing agencies of the Special Initiative, as well as to grant recipients or service providers under the Special Initiative.
Legal basis for the processing:
- Your implied consent pursuant to Article 6(1) (a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) if you contacted us by email.
- By getting in touch with us using the contact form, you agree to the processing of your data. Provided that you have clicked the corresponding consent box, you have agreed to its inclusion in the Special Initiative database containing data about companies and projects. We have no influence over the content of your message, and we request that you only share necessary information with us.
- We include personal data in the SIIS database containing details of companies and projects and we provide information appropriate to or going beyond the scope of the enquiry (if consent has been provided in the contact form) to allow us to take steps prior to entering into the contract or, in the event of a contractual relationship, to allow us to perform this contract pursuant to Article 6(1) (b) GDPR. This could take the form of forwarding your enquiry to our aforementioned partners or joint responsible organisations (GIZ, KfW or IFB).
Transmission of data (email forwarding): Data will be transmitted to GIZ, KfW and IFB GmbH using suitable, state-of-the-art SSL encryption.
SIIS: In order to facilitate systematic cooperation with companies and other actors, GIZ, KfW and IFB GmbH use a common database under the Special Initiative (Special Initiative – Information System: SIIS) containing data about companies and projects. This database can be used to record the personal data of individuals that submit enquiries, as transmitted by these individuals in the contact form, provided the individuals concerned have consented to their data being included in the database and there is a possibility of cooperation.
Transfer to third countries: Data is transferred to third countries when we respond to your enquiry and you are located in a third country or we transfer your data to the data controllers responsible persons in our partner countries pursuant to the purposes of the Special Initiative specified in 1.2.
The permissibility of data transmission in this instance is based on points (b) and (c) of Article 49(1) GDPR.
Other enquiries: Postal and email addresses, along with further information that you provide when you submit an enquiry or order information materials, are used exclusively for correspondence or delivery purposes.
Duration of data storage/erasure:
Personal data is erased if:
- it is no longer needed for fulfilment of the commission;
- the data subjects have not given any separate consent, or such consent has expired/been revoked;
- statutory data retention obligations and periods do not require longer periods of data storage
Like enquiries sent to the Special Initiative via email, enquiries made via the contact form will be deleted when the Special Initiative "Decent Work for a Just Transition" comes to an end (currently late 2025, approximately seven to ten years in total). The end of the term is defined as the time after which no new individual projects within the Special Initiative are commissioned, or beyond which no existing projects are extended. Non-relevant emails are deleted immediately rather than kept. Relevant emails are kept for between seven and ten years.
In addition to this, the implementing organisations and project executing agencies within the Special Initiative remain subject to various retention and documentation obligations imposed by the commissioning party (BMZ) for up to 10 years after the Special Initiative has ended.
Reference to user rights:
You have the right:
- to withdraw your consent;
- to enquire about your personal data and its processing;
- to have this rectified if necessary, or to demand restriction of processing or the erasure of the data.
Your personal data will then be rectified or erased accordingly.
