Grant agreement signed with the Society for Family Health (SFH)

The Facility Investing for Employment announces the signature of a new grant agreement with an NGO in Rwanda

The latest grantee to receive funding from the Facility Investing for Employment (IFE) is an NGO from Rwanda. The Society for Family Health (SFH) will use the IFE grant to build 80 new Health Posts in 12 districts across the country. IFE is part of Invest for Jobs.

SFH had taken part in a Call for Proposals launched in 2021 and was selected as a grantee after a detailed evaluation of the submitted project proposal. The NGO has been operating in Rwanda since 2012. SFH offers health education and runs communication campaigns for behaviour change. It has a proven track record of building, equipping, and managing Health Posts and of working with other healthcare providers. In Rwanda’s healthcare system, Health Posts serve as the link between local communities and the larger health facilities and hospitals on district level. They provide basic services, such as maternity and laboratory services, immunizations, curative outpatient care, growth monitoring for children and family planning counselling.

The signing ceremony took place in Kigali on May the 13th, 2022 in the presence of Gihana Wandera Manasseh, CEO of the Society for Family Health, and Rauf Khalaf, Managing Director of the Facility Investing for Employment. Gihana Wander Manasseh stressed the importance of the grant: “The grant that was awarded to our project will be a true game changer. It will support our mission to inspire the citizens of our country to lead healthier lives. Bringing medical services closer to the population and investing in the local health infrastructure are a crucial part of this effort.” The ceremony was followed by a guided visit to the Health Post in Musovu (Bugesera District, Juru Sector).

SFH will invest more than 6 million euros to build and equip 80 Health Posts. Each Health Post will include consultation rooms, a room for the treatment of wounds and the sterilisation of instruments, as well as a small laboratory. Some of the facilities will also provide dental care, prenatal consultations as well as deliveries and other advanced healthcare services. The Facility Investing for Employment grants a subsidy of 5.13 million euros. More than 1.000 jobs will be created within the first year of operations.
